Mission

The mission of the Centre for Global Environment and Development (CGED) is to improve and develop human capacity and empowerment, reduce poverty, increase equity, improve health, and maintain a just society and balanced environment through education, health, training, and capacity building, agriculture, environment and better local resources and management programs.

Objectives

The Major Objectives of CGED:

  • Develop a balanced and healthy environment and ecosystem through environmental preservation, biodiversity conservation, improvement of atmospheric pollution, climate change adaptation and mitigation, disaster management, and research programs.
  • Increase and build empowerment self-confidence and capacity of the poor and disadvantaged women, children, and other sections of society through education, training, appropriate technology, health, water sanitation, disaster and risk management, ecological agriculture, and environmental programs.
  • Proper use and development of resources.
  • Build and establish community institutions, non-formal education, schools/colleges/universities, training, research, and vocational centers.
  • Provide and organize advocacy and awareness programs on education, environment, health, basic rights, and inequity in society.
  • Provide support during food crises, famine in particular areas, and any human emergency and also in disaster management and risk reduction.
